In 1959 he received a combination of R & B female vocal group in Detroit and were called the Primettes. The group was formed by singer Diana Ross, Mary Wilson, Florence Ballard and Barbara Martin.
They signed with the little-known Lupine label in 1960. In the same year, the Primettes Tamla Motown label, and a year later, signed, 1961, The Primettes became known as The Supremes. Barbara Martin left just after the group as a trio.
Music Hit
For three years, The Supremesworked as a backing vocalist for other Motown artists. They can be listened to Marvin Gaye support its 1963 hit "Can I get a witness?"
Towards the end of 1963, The Supremes cracked the Billboard Top 40 Charts "When the light begins to shine The love through his eyes." For the first time five of them only six went to number one. All in all, had twelve Number One Hits.
Although they were riding high in the charts, there was friction between Diana Ross and FlorenceBallard. Everything came to a head in 1967 when the head of Berry Gordy's Motown, Ballard discharged and replaced with his Cindy Birdsong, who had been with the Blue Belles Patti LaBalle.
Diana Ross left the group in 1969 and was replaced by Jean Terrell. Ross had a successful solo career, The Supremes, but only managed to crack the top ten twice more. Their latest single path 1976th
reformed in 1978, Mary Wilson, the group as Mary Wilson and The Supremes, but lost the rightsto use the name The Supremes, after a tour in England.

On a sad note, he tried to Florence Ballard said Motown is fired on them, but lost the case. In 1976, after trying for some time on the welfare and support of his threeChildren, Florence Ballard died of cardiac arrest at the age of 32 years.
The Supremes were introduced into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.
